Here is one moment amongst many that I had.
During the holidays back in the early 80's we used to have a skeleton crew during the holidays. I was Chief Announcer at the time so finding people to broadcast then was tough. One of the things we did was reduce our hours of broadcasting. I think the hours were 6 AM to 2:00AM.
During one these holiday breaks one night after working as a bartender at one of our local bars I decided I would broadcast from 2AM until 6AM. Just a little extra for all of our loyal listeners. Unfortunately, I may have a had a little to much to drink that night while pulling my shift at the club. Proceeded to put the second side of Abbey Road on on air. Settleled in for a listen while I planned my next few cuts for the all nighter and....then promptly fell asleep. Only to awake some 3 hours later to banging on the control room door as the record turned at the end of the side for the same plus time.
You know that sound...krrggpfh...krggpfh as your needle slowy gets ruined. Sorry Paul B. Can't quite remember who it was that was coming in to the 6 AM shift, but we had a great laugh about it.
Some treat I gave my loyal listeners...great radio! Brash Muzak aka John Brewer
