Just mentioning this because (a) it really IS the best live album ever recorded, and (b) they're reissued it with the entire performance intact. It's the only CD I've had in my work computer since they made me remove all the mp3's from it. All 11,000 mp3's. My only gripe with the latest reissue (the "Deluxe Edition") is that when they mixed the new tracks, which is basically most of "Tommy" - they OVERdid it and it sounds like they're playing through a tube. Otherwise it's an amazing performance. (Also listening to Sigur Ros and Boards of Canada...) b |

That is a great one Rocketman. Re: your 11K mp3's - hope you were able to save them! I carry mine to work on my portable drive since they have a filter that sweeps the network every once in a while and deletes mp3s. ![]() |

Hey WPRG Jock! Oh, yes indeed - I saved 'em all. I have many, many DVDs with my stuff on them. I was really pissed because there is no NASA or Lockheed policy that states I cannot have those files on my work computer, it was just our ITS department being an asshole to me (and several other engineers) because the mp3s really slowed down their scans. Big Brother wasn't happy. I still have Live at Leeds (disc 1) in my laptop. I can't read my initial post right now, but in case I didn't mention it - I bought the "Deluxe Edition" which has the ENTIRE concert, including all of "Tommy". The tracks which were remastered for this release sound like crap - WAY over-processed, and they sound like they were recorded inside a TUBE. Still an amazing show and one of my all-time favorite live shows. I was only six when they played this gig, but I still wish I could have been there. Only about 1 minute of video footage exists from this show, and I wish there was more... (there was a show at the Tanglewood Music Shed in Lenox, Mass. recorded a few months after this one - with essentially the same song list - and I have that video, it's called "All Tangled Up in Who". Lots of this show's tracks are also in Youtube, just search for "The who" +tanglewood and you'll find 'em. Worth it just to see how Keith Moon played the drums back then... my all-time fave drummer since I was five (Tommy's release). Also in my PC drive - I'm alternating Leeds with a Plaid CD - "Double Figure". Electronic and catchy, but not crappy. Keeps me going when I get sleepy in the afternoon. ![]() As for the 11k+ mp3s, they're still sitting on the DVDs at home. I can't play those here either because our ITS guys will scan those too. Asses. b |
