Chip Cappel here in Baton Rouge. Had no idea this site was here.

Listening to Zia this afternoon and he mentioned the station's new web address and found this place thru them.

I was on the air from 82 to 83 (but subbed a few times in 84).

My "claim to fame" if you want to call it that is that I was on the air when Paul Burt came running down the hall screaming that we got the new call letters "KLSU" approved from the govt.

Drew Martin came on following me and I thought at first he was insulting my taste in music when he said "That's the last time you'll ever hear that on WPRG." Didn't realize we'd be changing call letters immediately! We were now the "New KLSU," I became the last WPRG jock and Drew became the first KLSU jock. History was made!

The move to 91.1 came after I stopped full-timing, but I subbed some then - also saw this new machine that played these little silver disks - but it frightened me so I stuck to the vinyl!

I"ve been teaching in one of our local High Schools since 1988. Never run into anyone I recognize from the radio days (though I've seen Dez on TV talking about Animal control and saw Dave the Rave when he came thru town with Poi Dog Pondering in the early 90's).

Now back to listening to Zia ....
